Compete in Special Challenges!

In addition to the regular Score and Timed Challenges, Special Challenges can now be played at any time!

Special Challenges are a type of ranked gameplay where you compete based on your score or time when playing with the specified conditions.

Special Challenges can now be played at any time.
You can select either Score Challenge or Timed Challenge from the menu after selecting a game from the Select Game screen. With this update, Score Challenges, Timed Challenges, and Special Challenges will no longer be tallied in Weekly Rankings.

■ Changes to Campaigns

Campaigns will now run for seven days as opposed to the previous six days.
One campaign will run from Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. until 1:59 p.m. (UTC +9) on the
following Tuesday.
Additionally, the games for the campaign will be selected every week based on genre.

Note: Available on the Nintendo Switch™ version after the purchase of downloadable content.

Special Challenge Types

Normal Rules Score Challenge: Compete based on your total score at game over or clearing the game.
Timed Challenge: Compete based on the time it takes you to clear a game.

In this challenge, you will compete based on your total score either at game over or after clearing the game twice.
Only single player mode is available, and changes made in Game Settings will not take effect.
Maximum Speed In this challenge, the game speed will be set to Very Fast, and you will compete based on your total score either at game over or on clearing the game.
Game Speed Changes OK In this challenge, you will compete based on the time it takes you to clear the game.
Unlike the usual Timed Challenge modes, you may change the game speed.
Upside-Down In this challenge, the display will be turned upside-down, and you will compete based on your total score either at game over or on clearing the game.
Maximum Difficulty Score Challenge: In this challenge, the difficulty level will be set to Hardest, and you will compete based on your total score either at game over or on clearing the game.
Timed Challenge: In this challenge, the difficulty level will be set to Hardest, and you will compete based on the time it takes you to clear the game.
1 Life Only Score Challenge: In this challenge, you will start with only one life remaining, and you will compete based on your total score either at game over or on clearing the game.
Timed Challenge: In this challenge, you will start with only one life remaining, and you will compete based on the time it takes to clear the game.
1 Life + Bonus Lives Only In this challenge, you will start with only one life remaining, and you will compete based on your total score either at game over or on clearing the game. Use of the Bonus Lives feature to gain additional lives is allowed.
1 Life + 1 Bonus Life Only In this challenge, you will start with only one life remaining, and you will compete based on your total score either at game over or on clearing the game. If you reach 2,000,000 points, the Bonus Lives feature will grant you one extra life.
2 Lives Only In this challenge, you will start with only two lives remaining, and you will compete based on your total score either at game over or on clearing the game.
No Bombs In this challenge, you will start with zero bombs, and you will compete based on your total score either at game over or on clearing the game.
Endless Mode In this challenge, the game will be set to Endless Mode, and you will compete based on your total score at game over.
